How lucky am I to have two of my favorite stores willing to peddle my wares!
While both are unique enterprises, Mongo and 139 Art and Design Co-op have many things in common. The proprietor of each store is the designer of a destinctive line of clothing. Julie of Mongo is behind Ohm fashions and Bi Li of the Co-op is the creator of Earthspeaks hemp clothing. Both stores offer innovative home goods, wearable art, unique imports and local craft. While merchandise may be overlapping, each space has it’s own ambiance and aesthetic.
When entering Mongo, one is enveloped in a cocoon of expertly arranged clutter. Color, form and texture abound. One wonders how so much can fit into so small a space. The store is truly a feast for the eyes.
Upon entering the Co-op an array of terraria and succulents seem to reach out in welcome. Moving on into this spacious store, one discovers an oasis on the busy Atlantic Avenue. Works by local artisans, beautiful imports, Earthspeaks apparel and more are artfully scattered throughout this Zen space.
I hope you all will have an opportunity to visit Mongo and 139 Art and Design Co-op, not just because they sell my stuff, but because they are truly special!
